About Our Training
Clinical Dental Outreach provides comprehensive training to its members, qualifying them to provide dental assistance in a clinical setting. The training program spans one academic year from Fall to Spring. The program consists of a training quarter that takes place during the fall and two clinical quarters which take place during Winter and Spring.
Training Quarter (FALL)
New members undergo intensive training that prepares them for the following clinical quarters in winter and spring. Members are required to attend bi-weekly workshops to solidify their understanding of basic dental procedures and dental assisting techniques in order to thrive in the clinical setting. Members are also expected to complete CPR/BLS certification, an Infection Control Course, and the CA Dental Practice Act Exam.
CLINICAL QUARTERS (WINTER+SPRING)
Members must complete at least 6 clinical site visits per quarter. At these site visits, members will assist dental students and dentists and practice the skills they have acquired during the training quarter.
Upon completion, certificates will be awarded to members that complete the active requirements for the program. Members continue to participate in CDO after completing their training year.
